In 2013 Air Force Veteran Doug Robinson wanted to begin an encore career and took a leap of faith in starting his next career journey as a travel franchise owner by entering the 2nd annual Operation Vetrepreneur: Become Your Own General contest. Here’s a brief Q&A with Doug.
1. Why did you enter the Operation Vetrepreneur: Become Your Own General contest?
Funny enough, my daughter took my franchise money when she got married, so the timing of the contest was perfect! I was so excited to send in my nomination package and get the chance at owning a travel franchise.
2. What do you like best about owning a Dream Vacations travel agency franchise?
There is so much to love about being affiliated with Dream Vacations. I love having the opportunity to send clients on their favorite vacations, meeting the network of fantastic travel advisors and of course the unwavering support from the headquarters team.
3. What is the best part about the support you get from Dream Vacations?
There is no way I could own and operate my travel agency franchise without the support of the entire headquarters team. 4. How do your military skills translate into franchise ownership?
Throughout my career in the Air Force, I developed great communication skills in developing work relationships. This translates well to the travel industry because it allows me to have relaxed conversations with clients and ask thorough questions about their vacation plans and desires.
5. What’s your dream vacation?
